Field fire - Worsted Lodge - South Cambs

On Sunday (10) at 12.27pm crews were called to a field fire on Worsted Lodge. Crews from Cambridge, Cottenham, St Neots, Chatteris, the water carrier from Ramsey, and the south roaming fire engine, responded to the incident. Crews from Newmarket, Haverhill, Wickhambrook and Mildenhall at Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also attended.

Crews arrived to find a large cut field well alight that was also near to standing crop. Firefighters worked alongside the farmer to create a firebreak. Using beaters and roles reels, firefighters worked to tackle the fire. A drone was also used to assess the area for hotspots.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

All crews returned to their stations by 4.20pm.
