Standing crop fire - Worsted Lodge - South Cambs

On Monday (11) at 5.55pm, crews were called to a fire involving standing crops at Worsted Lodge. Crews responded from Cambridge, Burwell, Linton, Sawston, along with crews from Newmarket (Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service).

Crews arrived to find around 20 acres of standing crop and a stack alight.

Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to get the fire under control. Farm machinery, a water bowser and a plough were also used at the incident.

Firefighters maintained a watching brief of the incident later in the evening and carried out regular inspections over the following days.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
