Chimney fire - Great Gransden - Huntingdonshire

On Sunday (20) at 6.33pm a crew from Gamlingay was called to a chimney fire on Church Street, Great Gransden.

Firefighters extinguish the fire before returning to their stations by 8.15pm.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.

“As the cold weather arrives, it is important to get your chimney swept, ideally before lighting it for the first time.”
