House fire - St Ives - Huntingdonshire

At 8.45pm on Thursday (24) crews were called to a fire on North Road in St Ives. 

More than 30 firefighters, including crews from Huntingdon, Chatteris, Cambridge, Cambourne, Gamlingay and Cottenham attended the incident. 

Firefighters arrived to find well developed fire involving a detached house, which had already spread to the roof. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets, with the aerial turntable used to tackle the fire from above.

The property was evacuated before the crews arrived.

The crews returned to their stations by 1am.

An investigation will be carried out today to determine the cause of the fire.
