Chimney fire – Etton - Peterborough

At 5.18pm on Sunday (5) a crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a fire on Main Road in Etton.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a chimney in a house and extinguished it. They returned to their stations by 7.45pm.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
