Chimney fire - Soham - East Cambs

At 6.47pm on Thursday (10) a crew from Burwell along with Newmarket (Suffolk) were called to a chimney fire on High Street Soham.

Firefighters used small gear and a hose reel to extinguish the fire and returned to their station by 8.10pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
