Chimney fire – Huntingdon - Huntingdonshire
30/12/2024 3.58PM
At 3.58pm on Monday (30) crews from Huntingdon and Cambridge were called to a fire on High Street in Huntingdon.
Firefighters arrive to find a fire involving a chimney in a hotel. They extinguished the fire using hose reels and chimney rods, plus the turntable ladder aerial appliance to tackle the fire from above.
The building was safely evacuated when the crews arrived.
The crews returned to their stations by 6.15pm.
A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating a property, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
