Field fire - Wyton - Huntingdonshire

At 8.18pm on Sunday (12) crews from Sawtry, Whittlesey and Huntingdon along with the water carrier were called to a field fire on Sawtry Way in Wyton. 

Firefighters arrived to find a fire affecting approximately 20 acres of standing crop and rapidly spreading. Crews used beaters, drags and hose reels to tackle the fire, and were assisted by onsite staff who used a tractor and plough to make a firebreak. 

Crews returned to their stations by 9.40pm. 

The cause of the fire was accidental.
