Firefighters Christmas toy appeal spreads festive cheer
17/12/2024
Wisbech firefighters are spreading festive cheer around the town in the run up to Christmas.
The crew has been taking donations from local retailers, as well as community groups, schools and members of the public, to give to young people in need or going through a tough time. They are looking for donations of toys, board games, books and arts and crafts, which they will deliver in the run up to Christmas Day.
Many donations have already been received to help the appeal. Morrisons on Elm High Road gave a generous selection of gifts, plus the pupils of Thomas Clarkson Academy and The Wisbech Academy joined together and supported the appeal with several presents, as did Elm Church of England Primary School.
Firefighter Samual Pumpr, the organiser of the appeal, said: “We’ve been bowled over by the generosity from everyone since launching the appeal. It’s really humbling to have the support of so many people in the community.”
Anyone wanting to donate to the appeal can drop off presents either to Wisbech Fire Station, between 8am and 6pm or Argos, until December 20. If you would like your name added to the gift tag, please leave your name with the donations.
If you want to nominate someone going through a tough time and deserves a special gift for their family this Christmas, this can be done via a private message on Wisbech Fire Station Facebook page or post a letter to Wisbech Fire Station.
