Make your car sparkle this summer at charity car washes
23/07/2025
Firefighters across the county will be getting out their sponges and buckets as they host summer charity car washes.
Crews at stations will be opening their doors to raise much needed money for The Fire Fighters Charity, who provide support and rehabilitation to the fire and rescue community. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are welcome. Previously, cars, bikes, vans, trucks and even tractors have been known to come along.
Events have already been hosted in Cambridge and Sutton, which have raised more than £2,000 for the charity.
Car washes ae being held at:
- Ely Fire Station – Saturday July 26, 10am-2pm
- Gamlingay Fire Station – Saturday July 26, 10am-3pm
- Whittlesey Fire Station – Saturday August 9, 9am-1pm
A fire service spokesperson said: “Car washes held across the county are always really well supported by the community and we hope to see many local residents join us in raising funds for this worthwhile charity.”
A spokesperson for The Fire Fighters Charity added: “It has been fantastic to see Cambridgeshire colleagues come together to hold car washes to support Fire Fighters Charity. Thank you so much to all those involved in organising and taking part in the Car Washes, the funds raised will help members of our fire services community with their physical and mental wellbeing, now and in the future.”
