Chimney fire - Sawtry - Huntingdonshire

On Saturday (25) at 8.03pm, a crew from Huntingdon was called to a chimney fire on Church Street, Sawtry.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to extinguish the fire, before returning to their station by 9.10pm.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
