Fire in the open – Eye - Peterborough

At 6.04pm on Saturday (3) crews were called to a fire on Eyebury Road in Eye, Peterborough. 

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Thorney and March, along with the water carrier from Ramsey, the high-volume pump from Cambourne, and a crew from Market Deeping in Lincolnshire, attended the incident.  

Firefighters arrived to find a large area of landfill, measuring around 20,000 square metres, well alight. They extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets, maintaining a presence throughout the night to ensure the area was safe and checking for hot spots.  

The cause of the fire was accidental
