Fire in the open – Eye Green - Peterborough

At 5.57pm on Wednesday (14) crews from Stanground and the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade were called to a fire on White Post Road South in Eye Green. 

Firefighters arrived to find a several fires in a large area of grassland, with the smoke blowing across the A47. They extinguished the fire and initially returned to their stations by 9.45pm.  

Crews made regular inspections throughout the night and following day to check for hot spots and ensure the area was safe. The A47 was closed temporarily while the crews tackled the fire.
