House fire – Romsey ward - Cambridge

At 6.10pm on Saturday (16) crews were called to a fire on Brookfields in Romsey ward, Cambridge.

Crews from Cambridge and the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, who were travelling back from covering the air show at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, attended the scene, along with the turntable ladder from Stanground.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in a derelict house that had spread to the roof. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets and returned to their stations by 10pm.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

During the incident firefighters assisted a Co-op delivery robot that got into some difficulty due to the hoses across the street.
