House fire - Paston - Peterborough

At 5.46am on Monday (19) crews were called to reports of a house fire on Crabtree, Paston.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade and Thorney responded to the incident.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire at a terraced house. They rescued two people from the property and performed CPR alongside the ambulance service. Sadly one man was declared dead at the scene and a woman has been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, and all crews left the area by around 12pm.

A fire investigation is underway to establish the most likely cause of the fire.

Update - Thursday June 22

The woman who was injured in the fire has sadly died in hospital.

A thorough fire investigation, involving several officers and police investigators, has determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
