Cambridgeshire firefighters host charity car washes

Firefighters across Cambridgeshire will be getting out their sponges and buckets as they host charity car washes this Spring.

Firefighters will be raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity who provide support and rehabilitation to the fire and rescue community. It’s a particularly special year for the charity, as they celebrate 80 years of supporting members of the UK’s fire family.

With the recent wintery weather, the car washes come at the perfect time. They’ll be taking place on the following days:

  • Stanground fire station – Saturday 18 March, 9am – 5pm
  • Cottenham fire station – Saturday 25 March, 10am - 2pm
  • Chatteris fire station – Saturday 22 April, 10am – 4pm & Saturday 30 September, 10am – 4pm
  • Cambridge fire station – Saturday 29 April, 10am – 3pm
  • Wisbech fire station - Saturday 29 April, 10am - 3.30pm

Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are welcome. At previous events, cars, bicycles, mobility scooters, vans, trucks and even push chairs have been known to drive through for the occasion.

Watch Commander, Matt House who is the Car Wash Coordinator and organiser of Stanground fire station’s car said: “Car washes held across the county are always really well supported by the community and we hope to see many local residents join us in raising funds for this worthwhile charity.

“The first event of the year took place in Manea, and raised over £600 for the charity, setting the bar high for stations across the county.”
