Chimney fire – Grantchester - South Cambs

At 1.51pm on Sunday (12) a crew from Cambridge and the south roaming fire engine were called to a fire on Broadway in Grantchester.  

Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a chimney in a house and extinguished it. They returned to their stations by 3.30pm. 

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.”
