Driving Instructor

The Service is dedicated to delivering an outstanding service to the communities we are proud to serve. We are currently looking for a Driving Instructor to join our welcoming, forward-thinking fire and rescue service.

Salary: Competitive Salary

Hours: Zero Hours

Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract

Location: Huntingdon 

(We offer a flexible, agile, hybrid working pattern where you can work from home, as well as from Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service and other locations around Cambridgeshire, to meet the team and organisations’ needs)

You will work as part of the Driver training team in Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) delivering essential courses to operational and non-operational personnel across a broad range of vehicles. You will work across the county to provide operational excellence, value for money, and maintain operational readiness in accordance with National Standards and legal requirements.

 

About you

Everyone is welcome at CFRS and we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and professional support team. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced individual to join our Driving Instructor Pool.

We would like to see that you have:

  • LGV Category C licence holder (demonstrable experience)
  • LGV Instructor experience Cat C 
  • Completed NFCC Portfolio of Evidence in line with the current Fire Standards Board
  • Been entered on the NFCC Register of Emergency Response Driving Instructors

We also would like to see the following; however, this is not essential:

  • DVSA ADI (Approved Driving Instructor)
  • Delegated Examiner Cat C Qualification
  • DVSA Fleet Driver Trainer
  • B+E Licence Holder and experience in towing
  • RoSPA / IAM Advanced Driver
  • Level 3 Education & Teaching Award or equivalent
  • Emergency Response Driving experience
  • A working knowledge of Roadcraft (The Police Driver’s Handbook)
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise and articulate way
  • Flexible approach to training delivery
