Salary: £27,711 - £30,060 pa

Hours: 37 hours per week

About the role

In this essential service role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all fire hydrants are inspected and maintained in compliance with the requirements outlined in the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004. You will also respond to defects and new installations in accordance with the National Guidance document "Provision of Water for Fire Fighting," to ensure that emergency water supplies are readily accessible for operational fire personnel.

Additionally, you will accurately record the location of hydrants electronically within the geographical information system, enabling access via mobile data terminals to support operational crews in efficiently locating hydrants during incidents.

About you

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences, but the ideal person will have the following:

  • Experience in health and safety management and being risk aware.
  • The ability to keep accurate records.
  • The ability to safely drive and position large vans.
  • You will be able to use basic computer programs and mobile data recording devices.
  • You will have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
  • Experience in practical maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Experience of working in a team as well as independently.
  • You will possess good time management skills with the ability to schedule work effectively.
  • Achieved an A*-C in Maths and English GCSE’s
  • Full, Current driving licence * (*Reasonable adjustment will be made for those candidates who may have a disability under the Equality Act 2010. However, it is essential that the successful candidate can travel to any part of the county when required)
