Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Our staff at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from abuse and neglect. We strive to promote the safety, dignity and wellbeing of people in the communities we serve and of our own staff.
What does safeguarding mean?
The Government’s definition of the term safeguarding is:
"The process of protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment of their health and development, and ensuring they are living in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care that enables them to have optimum life chances."
We ensure that all colleagues receive appropriate safeguarding training and have robust policies and procedures in place to meet our safeguarding obligations. This includes conducting the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for all roles, in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
We recognise the important role that we can play in partnership with other agencies, working with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Safeguarding Partnership.
Reporting Abuse and Neglect
Always dial 999 in an emergency.
We know it can be difficult to report abuse, but if you don’t help, who will? You can report safeguarding concerns by phone or online at any time. The website below has information about how to report safeguarding concerns:
