Driving for Better Business

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is helping local businesses improve their safety on the roads by hosting online seminars about the Driving for Better Business Programme. All seminars are free to attend and are hosted on Microsoft Teams. You can register for a seminar by clicking on the date you wish to attend below.

Driving for Better Business is a free, government backed programme run by National Highways that is open to any business whose employees drive on behalf of the company. This could be with a company vehicle during working time, a company car or using their own personal car for work purposes. The scheme provides guidance on how to ensure you comply with the legal requirements around employees driving for their employer, as well as best practice to improve your safety record on the roads and save your company money. You can also access free driver training videos to circulate to your company and free driving resources, both digital and physical.

There are around 20 million vehicles used for work in the UK, with over 14 million of these being private cars used for both business and private use. Each year there are over 60,000 reported casualties on the roads involving someone driving for work or commuting. Employers have legal, moral and financial responsibilities to manage the risk of their employees driving, with Driving for Better Business providing a framework to manage these risks effectively.
